Formula One was fortunate to find that its annual August break of five weeks between races coincided with the greatest sporting circus on earth, at the Olympics in London. While the racing series hibernated, the Olympics nevertheless gave time - and a reason - for Formula One fans and journalists to brainstorm about their sporting series by comparison.
